Brief Itinerary:
Day 1: Drive from Rishikesh/Dehradun to Gangotri
- Drive Distance: 270 kilometres
- Maximum altitude: Gangotri (3100 meters)
- Accommodation: Overnight stay in a guesthouse
We start our day early in the morning driving from Rishikesh/Dehradun to Gangotri. At the end of the day, we will reach Gangotri, a holy town surrounded by the majestic Garhwal Himalaya. There, we will spend the night in a comfortable guesthouse, allowing us to rest and recharge before continuing our expedition towards the Bhagirathi 2 peak.
Day 2: Trek from Gangotri to Bhojbasa
- Trekking Distance: 15 kilometres
- Maximum altitude: Bhojbasa (3789 meters)
- Accommodation: Overnight stay in camping tents
We start our trek after offering our prayers at the Gangotri temple. The valley offers a wider view and the terrain becomes desolate. As we pass through landslide-prone we ensure that trekkers are cautious on the trail by keeping an eye out for falling rocks. After crossing this area a wooden bridge with the river flowing underneath comes into view. Our campsite for the day, Bhojbasa - The Birch Forest, is a gradual ascent from here and as we move closer we will get our first glimpse of the majestic Shivling peak. The day ends with dinner at the campsite and an overnight stay in tents.
Day 3: Trek from Bhojbasa to Tapovan via Gaumukh

- Maximum altitude: Tapovan (4450 meters)
- Accommodation: Overnight stay in camping tents
We will start early in the morning and after a gradual ascent, we will reach Gaumukh – The Source of the Ganges. The path is one of a kind with glacial streams and boulders. As we trek towards Tapovan from Gaumukh through the glacial path, it gets arduous due to the change in altitude and the rocky terrain. The area is covered with moraines and after a steep rocky ascent, the beautiful meadow Tapovan opens itself to us. The Akash Ganga flows through the meadow and the majestic peaks of Shivling, Meru, Sumeru, Bhagirathi and many more surround us. The day ends with dinner at the campsite and an overnight stay in tents.
Day 4: Trek from Tapovan to Nandanvan base camp

The day starts early as we move towards Nandanvan - a serene meadow nestled at the base of the mighty Bhagirathi Glacier, which not only serves as our basecamp for the expedition but also offers a breathtaking view of the Shivling peak, often referred to as the Matterhorn of the Himalayas, along with the majestic Meru, Kedardome, and Kedarnath peaks. Nandanvan is a visual feast, adding an extra touch of splendor to our expedition. The day ends with dinner at the campsite and an overnight stay in tents.
Day 5: Rest day in Nandanvan base camp

Today we will walk around in the beautiful meadow as we acclimatize to the altitude. The day ends with endless views and finally dinner at the campsite with an overnight stay in tents.
Day 6 to 13: Summit to the Bhagirathi II Peak

Due to the unpredictable conditions at high altitude, all expeditions require constant readjustment of plans.
The Mt. Bhagirathi II expedition involves a planned progression through four camps, each situated at strategic points along the route, ultimately leading to the summit at 6,512 meters.
On Day 6, we undertake the task of ferrying our supplies to Camp 1.
On Day 7, we shift to Camp 1, followed by a load ferry to Camp 2 on Day 8.
Day 9 is dedicated to rope fixing and opening the route, with a shift to Camp 2 in preparation for the summit attempt.
Day 10 marks the thrilling midnight push for the summit, aiming to climb the remarkable height of 6,512 meters.
Day 11 is a reserve day for the summit. This additional day serves as a contingency plan, allowing us flexibility in case of unforeseen circumstances such as adverse weather conditions or the need for additional acclimatization.
Day 12 is dedicated to descending back to the Base Camp, where on Day 13, we dry and pack our equipment before concluding this remarkable expedition.

Day 14: Trek from Nandanvan basecamp to Bhojwasa

The day starts early with a splendid sunrise surrounding the peaks. We descend through the glacier followed by a gradual ascent to Bhojwasa.
Day 15: Trek from Bhojwasa to Gangotri
- Trekking Distance: 15 kilometres
- Maximum altitude: Gangotri (3100 meters)
We will start early in the morning through the birch trees towards Gangotri. After ascending the valley closes and our big adventure comes to a sweet end, as we reach Gangotri.
Day 16: Dive from Gangotri to Rishikesh/Dehradun
- Drive Distance: 270 kilometres
The expedition successfully concludes as we drive from the holy town of Gangotri towards Rishikesh/Dehradun with the thrilling memories of our big adventure.
